How to change the attitude towards girl education in India?

What is it that can change the attitude towards girl education in India? Can talks about women empowerment actually change things? Or do we need to take action for uplifting the life and status of women in our country? In any case, we can’t ignore the fact that girl education in India is a matter of great concern and we need to deal with it in the best way we can.
What can you do?
The mindset of people in various parts of India, especially in the rural parts, lacks the knowledge of benefits from girl education. While there are initiatives from the Government of India, like “Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao”, there is a lot more to be done by the common people to spread awareness about the perks of girl education.
To do this, you don’t have to take big steps. You can start with small steps and make progress along the way. You can start with our home and then you can spread out to your neighbourhood.
- If you have a girl child at home, take full responsibility for her education. Make sure that you do all you can to let her get the benefits of education just like you did.
- Look for female children in your locality whose family doesn’t bother to support their education. Go and talk to them. Try and convince them to send their child to school. If the family finds it difficult to support the girl’s education, arrange for donations and make sure that any kind of financial problem doesn’t stop them from completing their education.
- Offer free tuition classes to children in rural areas. Tutor male and female children together. Let the girl child feel no less than the boy child. Create an environment of equal opportunities without any gender bias.
There are countless benefits of educating a girl child. A well-educated girl creates a great impact on her future family and society at large. Therefore, you have to ensure that you leave no stone unturned to educate the girl child and focus on her development.
The good news is that the Government of India has a scheme for the education of girl children in India. I’m sure you must have heard about this scheme. It is called “Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana”. With this scheme, you can create funds for your girl child’s higher education. This is one of the best schemes launched by the Government. If you are interested in reaping the benefits of this scheme, you can apply for it in the Post Office nearest to you. If you want to know the returns from this scheme, you can use this calculator.
